I received a couple comments from concerned Army wives who were worried over my lack of POA. Well, worry no longer! Yes, the hubby did manage to get one. Whew. I knew he would once I planted the seed. The last thing he wants is for something to come up in which I say, "If only I had a Power of Attorney...hmmm." Men. Why are they so hard-headed sometimes?
(even my mother-in-law was shocked when I told her we hadn't done that yet!)
Ahhh... the pre-deployment arguments. Gotta love them. For those of you who may not know, it is very common for military couples to begin arguing pre-separation. Psychologically, it is our minds' way of beginning to distance ourselves from each other emotionally and mentally. Realistically, it blows.
He's tired and anxious, I'm tired and anxious -- not a good combo.
Tonight, for example: I return from a Pre-Deployment Briefing (one that I had to find out about from another wife, mind you) with checklists going through my head. I ask, "Have we taken care of the Power of Attorney yet?" L responds, "I didn't think we needed one."
Are ya kidding me? We've only been through, oh, two other deployments and YES, we had POA's each time -- a fact he is still disputing.
So, now, he's all pissed off, thinking that I'm throwing this at him at the last minute when the only reason I had yet to bring it up is because I assumed he took care of it. My mistake! Granted, everything is in my name as well, but, "what if".
It'll get worse, unfortunately. Especially since we're getting ready to drive to FL during his Leave. That should be a fun car ride! :)
Oh well. Just another bonus of being a military family!
