My latest scenario:
I'm stuck in a glassed-in shower with a cat soaked in tomato juice.* I look up to see my (almost) 3-year old grabbing an open box of baking soda and he begins to shake it.
This is my so-called wonderful life.
*no, Spot didn't have another run-in with a skunk. He still smells! It's been 3 weeks and 2 hydrogen peroxide + baking soda baths since and I still can smell which room he's in. Wanna know the kicker?? After this bath, not only does he still smell, now he's black, white, and ORANGE.
G and our cat, Spot, are really close. Spot will follow him all over the yard and settle down wherever G decides to play. As some of you know, Spot was my first "baby boy" and I am thrilled about how tolerant he is of a 2 1/2 year old. His tail gets pulled, he gets tackled, his fur gets sticky from sticky fingers, etc. Occasionally, he'll nip G on the nose (never enough to even leave a mark) but just enough to say, "Okay, Kid, leave me alone." He drives me crazy on a daily basis but then I get this kind of awwww moment:
Spot, the Golden Plated Cat, got loose last night...again. He's been coming home so I really didn't worry about it until he was a no-show this morning. Around 11am, G and I headed out in the car to see if we could find him. No luck. We got home a few minutes later with G crying for "Pot" and "Key-ee" (FYI -- that last one is how G says "kitty"). Standing in the garage, I got an idea. Spot has been hanging out with the neighbor cat lately, weird, I know, so I went next door and snooped around. Their cat was sitting on the sidewalk looking like he had a secret so I decided to walk up to him. He walked away, toward the closed garage door, then disappeared around the side of the house. I cupped my hands to the garage door and called, "Spotman! Kitty-Kitty!" Low and behold, a howl emitted from within the closed garage. The neighbor's cat looked at me then sauntered off like, "see, I told you I knew where he was hiding!" Luckily, our neighbors were home and Spot is now resting (he had such a trying night).
Good to know Spot has some friends.
